Grounds

We allow access to the grounds from 10am  on the day you check-in so that your suppliers can get started on setting up. Access to the house will be from 4pm onwards.

The Terrace

Our flat, paved Portland stone terrace at the south side of the house is a perfect space to entertain guests with both convenient access to the house and views over the fields to the coast. Awnings can be constructed over the terrace to protect against the rain - or the sun - and tables can be situated here in a variety of formats for seated luncheons and dinners. Please see dimensions here.

Marquee Set up

Guests can use either our terrace lawn or larger tennis court lawn for marquees. Both areas are turfed. The tennis court lawn is easily accessible from the house via steps to the east and west of the house.

Where can I hold my ceremony?

Upwey House is fully licensed for legal ceremonies so you can say "I do" in the great outdoors under our gazebo, on the terrace lawn, in the orchard or by the bubbling stream in the shaded woodland. What could be more romantic? Indoor weddings can be conducted in our airy yet cosy Drawing Room.

Access for Suppliers

Upwey House entrance bridge does not allow vehicles over 3 tonnes so any suppliers with heavier vehicles will need to use the Coach House entrance shown in the below image with the orange arrow. During weddings we do ask our neighbours at the Coach House to keep the gates clear but we do ask that guests make sure to shut the gates after them and limit any impact on the owners of the Coach House as best they can.
