For avid twitchers, Lodmoor Nature Reserve is a wonderful place to visit. Discover a saltmarsh reserve that's busy with wildlife. Follow the trail into the grasses and look for waders, ducks and terns, sometimes some special visitors turn up that draw a crowd. Dogs are welcome. Don't forget your binoculars.
Part of the Dorset Wildlife Trust, Lorton Meadows is a haven of peaceful green meadows, hedgerows and woodland, this reserve offers a chance to experience some fabulous wildlife right in the middle of town. with nature trails and a conservation centre sights of butterflies, wild flowers and bird watching are all wonderful sights here.
Take a scenic ferry from Poole Quay over to Brownsea Island, the island is managed by the Wildlife Trust and The National Trust. It is one of the few places in the UK where you can see red squirrels wondering around. Wonderful walks to explore the wildlife this beautiful little island has to offer. You may be lucky enough to spot a kingfisher during your visit.
