Cold Water Swimming
Our local beaches can be enjoyed just as much in the colder months as the summer due to the cold water swimming movement. There are local groups that meet up in Greenhill and enjoy the benefits. If you don't fancy dipping your toe in, an early morning walk along the beach to watch these brave swimmers is a sight to see.
There are options to just hire paddleboards dotted along the coast, if you feel you need some experience, go along to a paddle boarding lesson or with a bit of confidence take a paddle board tour. Its a great way to really take in the surrounding beauty of the coastline.
For the adrenaline junkie this is a lot of fun to do whilst you are staying by the coast. Explore caves and jump in to the sea from rocks on Portland with qualified instructors. The also offer sea kayaking and rock climbing experiences.
The Fleet Explorer is a shallow drafted boat specifically designed and built to explore the Fleet Lagoon. The boat runs regular trips between April and October. Find out about the iconic Chesil Beach, the little tern colony, local history, the wildlife of the Fleet Lagoon, and see what animals you can spot along the way.

If you are a fisherman, take your rod over to Chesil and try your hand at catching some mackerel.
Visit the historical Weymouth Harbour and take a seat on the harbour wall, cast drop your bait bag and make sure you have a bucket with some water in to pop your caught crabs to admire before popping them back in to the harbour. Its a great way to spend a sunny day, the children will love it! Grab some fish and chips to finish the day off watching the boats coming and going.
